Roderika can be encountered very early on in Elden Ring , as she's found hiding out in an abandoned shack near the entrance to Stormveil Castle. While she implies that she once commanded some sort of army, her forces have since been grafted by Godrick the Grafted, leaving her totally bereft. Speaking with her will grant the player the Spirit Jellyfish Ashes, easily one of the best spirit ashes in the game. Plus, should the player find the Chrysalids' Memento in Stormveil Castle and deliver it to her, she will appear in the Roundtable Hold. At that point, selecting certain dialogue options when meeting with Roderika and Smithing Master Hewg results in her unlocking a latent spirit tuning ability. The logic of the Painted Worlds isn’t fully explained, so much of how they work is merely speculation. One theory is used to suggest how Elden Ring connects to Dark Souls and FromSoftware's other games. At the end of Ashes of Ariandel , the player finds someone called the Painter. She sits in front of a blank canvas awaiting the return of Gael, who will bring the paint she’ll use. After completing The Ringed City , the player acquires this paint, which is actually an item called Blood of the Dark Soul, the description of which says it is " used as pigment [...] to depict a painted world ." When the player gives this to the Painter, she says, " I will assuredly finish the painting. Of a cold, dark, and very gentle place. One day, it will make someone a goodly home. " The player never sees the completed painting, but it is theorized that it could be the world of Elden Ring or Bloodbor

 
Despite her status as an Empyrean and vessel of the Greater Will, there are hints suggesting she was plotting to betray the outer god. At Elden Ring 's Roundtable Hold , the player can hear the blacksmith Hewg whispering a prayer to Marika. He can also be heard muttering about Marika’s command that he smith a weapon that can kill a god. The Greater Will may have learned of this plot and locked Marika inside the Erdtree as punishment. The god’s knowledge of her betrayal is supported by the fact that the Two Fingers have selected three other Empyreans to be Marika’s successor - Miquella, Malenia, and Ranni. This ending signals that Melina will return as a boss fight in Elden Ring’s DLC . The only issue with this may be the element of player choice. Not all players decide to go the route of the Frenzied Flame, and requiring this ending to access the DLC isn’t likely. The closest FromSoftware has come to a DLC that references the player’s choice is Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel . In this case, the only thing that changes is a line of dialogue spoken by Sister Friede if the player has chosen the Usurpation of Fire ending. Elden Ring’s choices feel more consequential than that, however. So it's improbable that Melina’s role in the DLC will be reduced to a few lines of dialo
